Think of this as a supper club but for craft!
Hosted in a beautiful, plant-filled courtyard, this is a close-knit gathering designed for you to step away from the hustle of Sydney.
Whether you want to reconnect with your heritage, find a creative escape, or simply make wonderful new friends over good food and art, this space is for you.
Kolam is a 5,000-year-old geometric art form from South India, traditionally drawn by women at the entrance of their homes using rice flour. It is a daily ritual of active meditation, welcoming positive energy, and starting the day with focus.
A Manai is a beautifully crafted low wooden plank used in South Indian homes. In this workshop, the manai becomes your canvas. You will paint your Kolam design on it, transforming it into a stunning piece of art to take home and use as a base for candles or plants, or a mindful addition to your quiet space.
Absolutely everything you need for a perfect, relaxing afternoon.
Your Creative Kit:
A specially printed notebook designed just for learning Kolam (which is yours to take home)
Pencil and eraser for learning your designs
White acrylic pen, paints, and brushes
Your own high-quality wooden manai (which is yours to take home at the end!)
Step-by-step guidance (absolutely zero art experience needed!)
The Menu: Because it wouldn't be a true gathering without great food! We will be serving:

Born to Master Artisan Deepa Jai, Ashwath Abinaya (Ash) has always felt a deep calling to preserve and celebrate traditional Indian art.
Her vision for Shree Jai Arts in Sydney is simple: to create a space where ancient traditions are not just admired, but lived and taught. After recently partnering with the Indian Consulate to showcase the "Living Traditions of Tamil Nadu," Ash is now thrilled to introduce you to the meditative beauty of Kolam and help you discover your own creative connection to our roots!
