WSTI AI Video Bootcamp – From Fundamentals to Your First AI-Generated Short

Join us for a hands-on, full-day deep dive into the rapidly evolving world of AI video creation without the hype. Whether you’re a filmmaker, content creator, or curious creative, and want to get a sense of their strengths and weaknesses, this bootcamp will give you the skills, context, and confidence to start experimenting with AI video tools . The AI world moves fast—sometimes too fast. In this session, we’ll keep it simple: one clear workflow, one set of tools, and a practical approach you can actually use without getting lost in the noise. We’ll spend the morning unpacking AI video fundamentals, workflows, and best practices—covering everything from image-to-video, text-to-video generation and other tools in Runway ML, along with some workarounds in Adobe. After lunch, we’ll put theory into practice with a fast-paced creative challenge: develop the concept for a short film or ad and start bringing it to life using AI. You probably won’t finish your masterpiece in a day—but you’ll leave with a clear workflow, the tools to keep creating for the rest of your Runway subscription month, and the option to share your final piece with the group 2–3 weeks later in an online showcase. ### What you’ll learn: How AI video tools like Runway ML can fit into production workflows Prompting techniques for consistent, creative outputs Concept development tailored to AI strengths (and workarounds for its weaknesses) Asset generation, utilising Adobe Photoshop AI tools for finishing Legal and ethical considerations in AI media production ### What to bring (important – please read before booking): Your own laptop Your own Runway ML subscription – $150 Monthly Unlimited plan strongly recommended Adobe Creative Cloud subscription Creative energy, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace imperfection ### You will not: Make $30,000 by next Friday Replace your entire production workflow overnight Create a perfect video on your first try ### You will: Make a flawed but beautiful AI-assisted video Gain a realistic understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations Leave with a practical, repeatable workflow Lunch is included.
