Join Melbourne Mahjong Club and discover the strategy, fun, and social connection of American Mahjong in a welcoming, guided learning environment.

Led by certified ATF Mahjong facilitators, this hands-on beginner course introduces you to the fundamentals of American Mahjong while building your confidence through structured weekly classes.

Whether you’re completely new to Mahjong or looking to strengthen your skills, you’ll learn tile recognition, the Charleston, basic hands, scoring, and game strategy while enjoying a fun and social experience with fellow players.

Flexible Learning

On 3rd,4th and 5th july We begin with one introductory session. If you decide to continue, the remaining classes can be scheduled at times and dates that suit your group’s availability, making it easy to complete the full 5-class American Mahjong course at your own pace.

Course Overview

Introductory Session

* Introduction to American Mahjong

* Understanding the Mahjong tiles

* Tile distribution and setup

* Basic gameplay rules

* Learn Goulash Mahjong to build confidence with the tiles

Progressive Course ( Classes)

As you continue, you’ll gradually learn:

* The Charleston

* Reading the American Mahjong card

* Pungs, Kongs, Pairs, and Jokers

* Scoring and winning hands

* Defensive and strategic play

* Practical gameplay with guided coaching
